The Truth, Myths and Non-Sense of Hypnosis
Hypnosis, often shrouded in mystery and misconceptions, is a powerful tool that can offer transformative experiences for those seeking positive change. Let’s embark on a journey to demystify hypnosis, separate fact from fiction, and explore what to expect during a session.
What Hypnosis Is:
1. A Natural State of Mind: Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility. It’s akin to the absorbed state you enter when engrossed in a captivating book or daydreaming.
2. Collaborative Process: Contrary to popular belief, you won’t lose control during hypnosis. It’s a collaborative process where you actively participate and I simple act as a guide on your journey.
3. Accessing the Subconscious: Hypnosis taps into the subconscious mind, where habits, beliefs, and automatic responses are stored. It’s a tool to uncover and reshape thought patterns for positive change.
What Hypnosis Isn’t:
1. Mind Control: Hypnosis is not mind control. You won’t be made to do anything against your will. You’re always in control and can’t be forced to reveal secrets or act in ways that go against your values. You are in complete physical and mental control at all times. You can choose to shake off this relaxation at any time, just as you would a daydream.
2. Sleep or Unconsciousness: Despite the term “hypnotic sleep,” you remain conscious and aware during hypnosis. It’s a state of heightened focus, not unconsciousness.
3. Magic or Instant Fix: Hypnosis is not a magic wand for instant solutions. It’s a process that takes time, often involving multiple sessions to achieve lasting results.
“Like a bicycle, hypnosis will get you where you want to go, but you have to pedal”

What to Expect During a Session:
1. Relaxation: Sessions often start with induced relaxation. Surprisingly, although feeling really good is a side effect of hypnosis, having a spa-like level of relaxation is not mandatory. Some people actually prefer to have a more active relaxation versus feeling the lazy state many of us associate with relax. So share with me the type of relaxation you prefer at the start of your session.
2. Conversation and Goal Setting: We will chat about your goals, your journey so far and how far you want to take your success. You can expect to check in like this at each session to keep the momentum flowing.
3. Guided Imagery and Suggestions: You will be guided through a series of visualizations and suggestions, and instructions to guide you into a state of pure hypnosis. This is where the work on the subconscious mind occurs.
4. Increased Awareness: Many people report heightened awareness and focus during hypnosis. It’s a state where your mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions. As you hear each thought, suggestion or idea, you will choose to accept the ones that are most beneficial to you. More than a physical awareness, in this state you have the ability to tap into a deep inner awareness of your goals & desires, plus the insights, wisdom and resources to realize them in your life.
